In
line with its commitment to sustainability and community development, and in
commemoration of the UN World Environment Day 2026, Sonnex Nigeria launched a
CSR initiative to educate secondary school students on the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Held
at the Maya Senior Secondary School, Ikorodu, Lagos, the outreach engaged over
550 students through interactive sessions led by six Sustainability Advocacy
Champions. The programme focused on SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities)
and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), aligning with the 2026
World Environment Day theme, "Inspired by Nature, for Climate, for Our
Future".
Students
gained practical insights into sustainability, climate action, and responsible
consumption while learning how Mohinani Nigeria integrates sustainable
practices across its operations.
The SDG advocacy outreach is designed to educate and inspire young minds on the importance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the critical role individuals, organisations, and communities play in achieving them. The initiative is part of efforts to drive collective action towards empowering young people to become advocates for a more sustainable future.
