Mohinani,
represented by Sameer Mohinani, Business Development Manager of the Sonnex-rPET
Division, joined fellow industry leaders and policymakers at the National
Plastic Summit 2026 to contribute to the high-level discussion on
"Building a West African Plastic Governance Architecture."
The
Summit, held in May in Abuja, marked a major transition in Nigeria’s plastics
and packaging sector, from policy development to implementation. It reaffirmed
the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing a circular economy and
strengthened expectations around Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
Key
outcomes included the introduction of a Circular Economy Financing Taskforce
and renewed emphasis on increasing recycled content in plastic products and
packaging.
Facilitated by the World Economic Forum Global Plastic Action Partnership, the
Summit was hosted by the Policy Innovation Centre and the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria.
