The rPET Division of Sonnex Packaging, Nigeria, has partnered with the Women in Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) for a transformative two-week “She Creates” summer bootcamp aimed at empowering 40 bright young girls from various secondary schools across Lagos State.
The immersive program was designed to break gender stereotypes and spark interest in technology, leadership, and non-traditional career paths. Participants engaged in hands-on sessions covering AI-powered web development, smart home innovations (IoT), filmmaking, and career-focused masterclasses on data science, public speaking, gender, and leadership.
In line with its commitment to youth and community development, Sonnex Rpet sponsored four students from its host community in Parafa, Ikorodu. These girls joined peers from over five schools across key Local Government Areas (LGAs), including Epe, Obalende, Apapa, Ajegunle, and Ikorodu.
Embedded in the program was a visit to the Sonnex rPET facility, where participants were exposed to the recycling process of PET bottles and educated on sustainability, environmental responsibility, and circular economy principles.
