Mohinani Drives Sustainability Education in Schools Through “Charley, Sort it Out” Challenge

Dec/16/2025 News

Mohinani Ghana has launched “Charley, Sort it Out,” a major waste management and plastic recycling campaign in 42 basic and junior high schools across the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

The initiative, which was first launched as part of the Group’s 50th anniversary, aims to equip students with practical knowledge and creative tools to promote environmental responsibility within their schools and communities.

Through interactive sessions on waste sorting and recycling, the campaign seeks to reach over 500,000 people both on the ground and online.

Participating students are required to collect, sort, and repurpose post-consumer waste into innovative products over a three-month period to compete in an Innovation Challenge meant to climax the competition.

The top three winning teams will receive cash prizes and seed funding to establish Sustainability Centers in their schools, alongside other rewards such as laptops and educational materials.

To ensure lasting impact, over 60 trained volunteers from Academic City University and 60 teachers have been mobilized to guide students and strengthen environmental education delivery.

Ashok Mohinani, Chairman of the Mohinani Group, has emphasized that sustainability is a core part of the company’s ethos and that the initiative aims to nurture a new generation of eco-conscious leaders across Ghana.

Implemented in partnership with StratNova Partners, TKC Africa, and the Ghana Education Service, the program reflects Mohinani Group’s broader sustainability vision.
