Job Profile:
The CO₂ Plant Manager is responsible for the optimized carbon capture and processing from the fermentation plant and the overall management, operation, and performance of the CO₂ production facility. This includes overseeing production activities, safety compliance, plant maintenance, quality assurance, staff supervision, and ensuring optimal efficiency and reliability of the plant. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a solid understanding of industrial gas operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management
- Manage day-to-day operations of the CO₂ plant to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient production.
- Monitor CO₂ purification, liquefaction, storage, and filling processes.
- Optimize plant output, energy usage, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement SOPs and operational controls.
2. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
- Enforce strict adherence to HSE standards, including OSHA and local regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transport of CO₂ and related equipment.
3. Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of compressors, pumps, refrigeration systems, storage tanks, piping, and filling systems.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate equipment maintenance records.
4. Quality Assurance
- Ensure CO₂ product meets food-grade (ISBT) quality specifications.
- Oversee laboratory testing, calibration, and quality documentation.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives.
5. Staff Leadership & Development
- Supervise plant operators, technicians, and support staff.
- Conduct training, performance evaluations, and workforce planning.
- Ensure shift schedules and staffing levels meet operational requirements.
6. Regulatory & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with regulatory bodies, environmental agencies, and industry standards.
- Prepare and submit required operational, environmental, and safety reports.
7. Inventory & Supply Chain
- Manage CO₂ stock levels, and bulk delivery scheduling.
- Coordinate with logistics and sales teams to meet customer demand.
8. Budgeting & Reporting
- Prepare plant operational budgets and control costs.
- Track KPIs, prepare performance reports, and present findings to management.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Advanced certifications in industrial gas operations or HSE are an added advantage.
- 7–15 years experience managing a CO2 production Facility.
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong understanding of CO₂ production technologies (fermentation, combustion capture, purification, liquefaction).
- Strong leadership and team management.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards (ISO 22000, FSSC, OSHA, etc.).
- Ability to read P&IDs, technical manuals, and process flow diagrams.
- Good communication, reporting, and organizational abilities.
